Summary:
- Philadelphia suffered a brutal 142-110 loss to Chicago on Monday, taking their long losing streak to eight, their longest since 2017.
- Paul George criticized the team’s lack of competitiveness.
- Chicago missed key players but dominated behind Josh Giddey’s 25 points.
If Monday night’s performance was any indication, the Philadelphia 76ers are in serious trouble. Playing at home in the Wells Fargo Center, the 76ers suffered a crushing 142-110 defeat to the Chicago Bulls, extending their losing streak to eight games. This is their longest skid since 2017 in the NBA.
The Bulls didn’t hold back. At some point, they were 50 points ahead of their opponents, clearly showcasing the 76ers struggles in both attack and defense.
“We Just Don’t Have the Habits of a Champion”
Palmdale-born 34-year-oldPaul George (pictured) bluntly expressed his opinion when assessing the state of his team via the Philly Voice’s Adam Aaronson.
We’ve shown no sign of a team that will compete and, you know, we just don’t have the habits of a champion or a playoff-contending team
The third quarter proved disastrous for the Sixers, as they only managed 18 points while the Bulls continued their relentless attack.
Chicago racked up 75 first-half points, a season-high for them, despite missing key players. Nikola Vučević was unavailable, and Lonzo Ball exited early, yet the Bulls still dominated.
Josh Giddey led the charge for Chicago with 25 points and 16 rebounds, while Kevin Huerter added 23 points. The victory snapped the Bulls’ own six-game losing streak, improving their record to 23-35.
For Philadelphia, George led the way with 19 points, with Kelly Oubre Jr. matching that total while also pulling down eight rebounds.

Unfortunately, their efforts did not suffice. The 76ers’s 20-37 record is now among the worst in the Eastern Conference.
Uncertainty Regarding Joel Embiid
The Sixers missed a few key players, as Justin Edwards, Eric Gordon, Kyle Lowry, and Jared McCain were sidelined.
To add more to their woes, Joel Embiid’s status is still uncertain. The 30-year-old, who was not allowed to play on Saturday, also missed Monday’s contest as is still dealing with a lingering left knee injury.
This medical problem has kept the Camerun-born away from the court, only allowing him to make 19 appearances this season. His return remains uncertain.
“He did have some testing earlier today, which ruled him out for tonight’s game“, head coach Nick Nurse said before tip-off, per ESPN.
There’s still further testing tonight even yet today and continuing tomorrow, and that’s where we are
With no clear timeline for Embiid’s return and the team spiraling, Philadelphia’s season is quickly slipping away.
If Monday night was any indication, as George hinted, the Sixers may have already run out of time.
